Follow up session: 30 minutes / £80

Acupuncture can be a highly effective treatment option for a variety of conditions, including pain management, skin problems and digestive issues. For more detailed information on this form of treatment, please refer to our ‘Acupuncture’ section.

Conducting acupuncture sessions at your pet’s home eliminates the stress and anxiety often associated with receiving such treatments in unfamiliar environments.

Tailored Nutrition and Supplementation

Nutrition and supplementation play a crucial role in promoting your pet’s health and well-being. We are committed to providing personalised treatment plans that incorporate these important components of pet care.

During the consultation, we will evaluate your pet’s current diet and discuss any health concerns or dietary needs they may have.

Nutrition & Supplementation

After conducting this assessment, we will suggest a diet plan that is customised to fulfil your pet’s nutritional requirements. This may involve recommending appropriate commercial pet foods or providing guidance on how to prepare homemade meals for your beloved companion.

We will also recommend supplements such as vitamins, minerals, and probiotics to support your pet’s immune system, digestive health, and overall well-being.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture for pets is a complementary therapy that involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points on your pet’s body to stimulate healing and balance. Acupuncture has been used for centuries to treat a variety of health conditions in humans, and has recently gained popularity as a safe and effective treatment option for pets.

During an acupuncture session, we will insert sterile, disposable needles into specific points on your pet’s body. These points correspond to specific organs and systems in the body, and stimulation of these points helps balance the body’s energy and promote healing.

How does it work?

Acupuncture works by stimulating specific points on the body to promote healing and balance. When the needles are inserted into these points, they stimulate nerve endings and trigger a response from the body’s nervous system. This response helps regulate the body’s internal systems.

Acupuncture works by releasing endorphins, which are the body’s natural painkillers, and by activating the body’s immune system. This can help reduce pain and inflammation and promote overall wellness.

Acupuncture can also help balance the body’s energy, or Qi. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is believed that disease and illness are caused by an imbalance of Qi in the body. By stimulating specific acupuncture points, we can help regulate the flow of Qi and promote balance and harmony in the body.

Does it hurt?

Acupuncture is typically a painless procedure. The needles are very thin, and most pets will not even feel the insertion of the needle. In fact, many pets find acupuncture to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Occasionally, pets may experience some mild discomfort during the acupuncture session. This is usually temporary and will resolve on its own.

What dog or cat condition can be treated with Acupuncture?

Acupuncture can be used to treat a wide variety of conditions in dogs and cats, including:

  • Pain management: Acupuncture can help alleviate pain caused by conditions such as arthritis, hip dysplasia, and spinal cord injuries.
  • Gastrointestinal disorders: Acupuncture can be used to treat digestive issues such as diarrhoea, vomiting, and constipation.
  • Respiratory problems: Acupuncture can help alleviate symptoms of respiratory conditions such as asthma and chronic bronchitis.
  • Skin conditions: Acupuncture can help alleviate itching and inflammation associated with skin conditions such as allergies and dermatitis.
  • Behavioural issues: Acupuncture can reduce anxiety and stress in pets, leading to improved behavior and reduced risk of certain health problems.
  • Neurological disorders: Acupuncture can be used to treat conditions such as seizures, intervertebral disc disease, and paralysis.
  • Immune system disorders: Acupuncture can help boost the immune system and promote overall health and wellness.

How often would my pet need treatment?

The frequency of treatments depends on the specific condition being addressed.

For acute issues, a greater number of sessions may be needed in short intervals, whereas chronic problems typically require one session per week for a period of 4-6 weeks.

After several sessions, we will assess your pet’s progress and develop a personalised action plan based on their response and health condition.

While some animals may not need further sessions, others may benefit from occasional maintenance treatments.
